This is me
I am Lior Locher (formerly known as Christine, I changed my first name to Lior). My family has a hop farm and a distillery. I grew up in the Tettnang area, smelling the hop dust in the air during harvest season is one of my most visceral childhood memories.
I didn’t particularly like beer until I was in my late 20s (although I had plenty), but as I started traveling and exploring, and appreciating the craftsmanship a bit more, I got more and more into it. Now it is a firm part of my travels and foodie explorations wherever I go.
And I love the people in that space, and am ever-fascinated by the creativity. Old old old tradition and craftsmanship, and wacky modern ideas that may or may not work. That’s how I like it. I am also an investor in a few craft breweries. Love learning deeper what works and what doesn’t, and I love supporting people with a vision. Also, beer. Need I say more?
I am learning more about beer (just finished this) and would like to do more with beer when I grow up. I might not grow up. But I might do more with beer someday. Goal for this year is the General Certificate in Brewing, and finally doing the Certified Beer Server exam.
Confession: I’m a bit of a lightweight. Often, I can’t even finish one of the big cans. I drink beer because I like beer, not to get drunk. So, often I find myself with leftovers from that can. And then I use them in cooking or baking. I will share some of what I come up with in the blog.
